Bookmarks Best Books of 2021

Bookmarks is the only magazine that I am subscribed to and I am always so excited when it arrives. Not only does it provide hours of entertainment in browsing their book reviews but, it fills my kindle queue with books and the anticipation of wanting to read! I definitely recommend subscribing if you haven't already.

What surprised me the most is that, despite being subscribed to Bookmarks I have only read a couple from this list! They continue to fill up my queue.  Here are their picks of the Best Books of 2021:

Bookmarks Magazine Jan/Feb 2022

Despite my only having picked out the eight books below, this issue was jam packed with books I want to read. I am going to do a separate post dedicated to their best books of 2021.

Bookmarks Magazine Nov/Dec 2021

I am always so excited when my Bookmarks Magazine comes in the mail and this issue was EXCEPTIONALLY good - 32 books! I don't think I have ever had so many books added to my queue from one issue. They had the books from the Booker Prize 2021 and also Recent Historical Fiction broken out by topic of geography. My queue overfloweth!! 😁

Let me know any good books you have read that you think I should add to my list.

Click on any book cover to go to Amazon and read the reviews.

Bookmarks July/Aug 2021

It is always the highlight of my week when I get my Bookmarks magazine in the mail. I almost drool in anticipation of being able to curl up with the magazine and add books to my queue. Their descriptions are great where I get a good sense of whether or not the books will appeal to me. Here are the ones that I added to my queue from this month. I think this is a nice selection and makes me so happy about carving out time for reading.

Although I don't like short stories, I love Jhumpa Lahiri so had to add this to my queue

Let me know if I missed any that you picked out. Also, let me know any good books you are reading that I should add to my queue!

Bookmarks Magazine May/June 2021

There weren't as many books that got my attention in this magazine. The one by Ethan Hawke really has me curious as do a few others in here. Let me know if you are reading any great books.

Bookmarks Magazine Mar/Apr 2021

YEAH! I love when I get my Bookmarks magazine. I have a lot of books already in my queue from previous editions so am not going to list those.

There is so much more to this book than just the books that I picked out. It is my absolutely favorite subscription that I look forward to having show up in my mailbox. I am going to talk about it in my "February books" video on YT next week.

Bookmarks Magazine January/February 2021

It always makes me so happy to get my Bookmarks magazine. There were quite a few that I already d on my kindle and have posted on previous bookmarks posts, so I am just putting the new additions below. I agree with other readers that this edition felt very 'heavy' and I just wasn't in the mood for that right now. I do keep all my previous Bookmarks magazine editions so I can always revist them in future.

Let me know any great books you are reading that you would recommend or, if you also get Bookmarks magazine let me know any books you think I should have added above. I hope you are having a fabulous week and making lots of time to read!

Bookmarks Magazine Nov/Dec 2020

I LOVE getting my Bookmarks magazine. It is truly something I look forward to and get so happy when I see it in my mailbox. This month has some good recommendations. Here are the ones I picked:

How did I not know that Fredrick Backman had a new book out!!! This is one of the many reasons that I love Bookmarks!

I already have summer on my Kindle so may need to move it (and Autumn and Winter) up in my queue

I actually just started reading this one:

Let me know what you are reading!

Bookmarks Magazine Sept/Oct 2020

I don't know if it just me but, when horrible things are going on in the world, that is the last thing I want to read about so, Bookmarks having their focus on "pandemics" this month felt wrong. I skipped that whole section which limited the books that I did pick out.

Here are the books that I have added to my queue:

Let me know if you are like me and read to escape or if you will be reading some of their recommended Pandemic books?

Bookmarks Magazine July/August

What better way to kick off the long weekend than getting my July/August edition of Bookmarks - yeah!!! As alwys, this had a lot of potential great reads in it that I can't wait to get to.

One of their featured authors was Paulette Jiles. I adored "News of the World" so put a few more of her books into my queue:

These are by other authors and sounded really intriguing to me:

I don't typically like non-ficttion but this sounded really good in the reviews:

I almost didn't add this one to my queue as it sounded too much like current events! Apparently the author handles it with lighthearted wit so, we shall see.

Bookmarks Magazine May/June 2020

It has been way too long since I have had time to sit down and devour my favorite Bookmarks Magazine. This is the only magazine subscription I have and I would never want to be without it. It is my source for almost all of the books I read and it is fabulous.

This month's issue featured quite a few 'dark' novels including a feature of the amazing Italian author Elena Ferrante. As always, I am going to come back and browse the magazine again and may add some of her books as well a few others to my ever growing queue. Right now though, I am not sure that I am in a place for uncomfortable dark novels. Even without picking the darker novels, there are 12 novels below that I have put in my queue and can't wait to read!

Please share either any picks I missed below or, just really good books that you would recommend. Thanks and I hope you are having lot of time to read great books. Here are my picks for this month.

Bookmarks Nov/Dec 2019

Bookmarks makes any day better but what a fabulous start to the week to get it on a Monday! I am excited about quite a few of these books but, especially the few that were translated. For some reason, those always feel 'richer' to me and the reviews were stellar. Should be great reading.

Let me know any picks I missed or any fabulous books you have read lately that I should check out!
