My Future Reads from Bookmarks Magazine for Sept/Oct

I just got my latest Bookmarks Magazine - WOOHOO!  If you aren't familiar with Bookmarks, I consider it a "must have" magazine for any reader (and I don't like magazines).  If you are interested, I did a video on it:

This is perfect timing as I will take the magazine with me to the beach in Maui and comb through it some more but, right now, here are the reads that really jump out at me:

I already have these on my kindle:

These are only the books at first glance....now you see why I love Bookmarks!  What books are on your radar?  Also, let me know if you want me to do these posts when I get my bi-monhtly Bookmarks magazine.

  1. Yes, please do more of these when you get the next issue, or even when you find more from this issue. Thanks! :)

  2. You know I am always interested in hearing what you are choosing from Bookmarks each month. There are so many books featured that I could miss something good. I fell asleep last night early and did not completely make it through my copy. I will let you know when I finish my TBR list from this issue. Enjoy your vacation.

  3. Hi Elle - Below are the books I added to my library list.

Deep South (I am sucker for travel books), The Sisters Brothers (meant to give this a whirl years ago when it was popular), The Book of Aron, The Diver's Clothes Lie Empty, Saint Maizie, The Rocks and The LIght of the World.

I have been meaning to ask you, did you read the Martian? I am not a huge SciFi fan but I loved this book. My husband listened on audio (I listened to a chapter with him) and I think the audio is even better than the book. The movie comes out this Fall.

    1. I have the Martian on my kindle but have to admit I have been avoiding it knowing it is SciFi. I wish my library had the audio version but, I may bite the bullet and move it up higher on my TBR list. Thanks for that encouragement. I will check out the books you recommended as well as explore my Bookmarks more - either on the 4+hour plane flight or on the beach (I can't wait!!)

  4. I am glad you posted about Bookmarks because I remember your video about it and then forgot about subscribing. I will definitely be subscribing today! I was wondering if you or anyone you know has read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon? I'm hesitant to read them because they have a romance element to them although I've been told they are NOT romance novels. They include time travel and history, too. I'd love it if you kept doing these future reads posts!

    1. I hope you love Bookmarks as much as I do. I always get so excited when the magazine comes :-) Yes, I have read Outlander and I enjoyed the first one quite a bit but then less and less as I went on. I don't remember how many I read (3 or 4?) but I did find they had more and more of the romance element so that is why I stopped reading them.

  5. I just recently finished reading "The Last Time I Saw Paris" by Lynn Sheene and think it was a good book in case anyone is interested in a WWII romance. My next reads are going to be "The Winter Guest" by Pam Jenoff and "The Light Between the Oceans" by ML Stedman that I believe Elle already reviewed.

    1. Thanks so much for the Lynn Sheene recommendation...I will check it out as well as the Pam Jenoff (have read others by her but don't think I have read that one). I think you will love The Light Between Oceans :-)
