Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster

My rating: 4.8

An 18 yo girl (Judy) that was raised in an orphanage has an anonymous benefactor willing to pay for her schooling with one condition...she must write him letters. This book is told through her letters.  It captured my heart.

I have no idea how this 'classic' novel wasn't even on my radar but I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to all.

  1. So glad you enjoyed this. It was such a wonderful surprise for me when I read. I had never heard of it either until I saw a video on The Deckled Edge YT channel in his classics series, Books starting with "D". He discusses many classics in the series, many that I haven't heard of before.

    1. Was it you that told me about this book? I loose track when I have so many in my queue. If we lived in the same city, we would definitely be in the same book club :-)

    4. I bet I did get it from your GR as I have you as my 'top friend' so I get notified of your reads as we are #booktwins. You don't have to wait for Dear Enemy. It is a classic so it is free on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Dear-Enemy-Jean-Webster/dp/1508889414

    6. Hmm, I usually read books, I am one who loves the feel of an actual book but my library doesn't have it so waiting on Paperback swap. I think I will make an exception and download to my kindle. I am traveling for work this week. Thanks for the info, hadn't thought of checking Amazon for free download.

  3. I read Daddy Long Legs and Dear Enemy so many times when I was a teenager. My Mom bought those books for us girls in Spanish. I never read the original in English. This brings memories of so many other books like Little Women, Ann of Green Gables, Sisi Empress of Austria, etc which were some of the ones that were at the beginning of my life long love for books...
